Higher Certificate in Applied Sciences
Location: Steve Biko Campus
The Higher Certificate in Applied Sciences is a 128-credit, NQF Level 5 qualification designed to help students who struggled with Mathematics and Physical Science in high school. This program is ideal for applicants to the Faculties of Engineering and the Built Environment, and Applied Sciences, who meet all other admission requirements except for Mathematics and Physical Science. The curriculum includes modules in Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics, aiming to build proficiency in these subjects. Additionally, students can explore elective modules in Engineering and the Built Environment, and Applied Sciences. This program is a full-time, one-year course designed to bridge the gap and prepare students for further studies in these fields.

To be eligible for the Higher Certificate in Applied Sciences, students must meet the following criteria:

Alternative combinations include Technical Maths and Technical Science at Level 3, or an N4 certificate with Engineering Maths and Engineering Science at 50% together with English Level 4.

Higher Certificate in Sport Management Science

Higher Certificate in Dental Assisting
Location: ML Sultan Campus (Block A)

Their responsibilities include data capturing, patient interaction, assisting in dental procedures, and ensuring infection control through the sterilization of instruments. This one-year, two-semester program prepares students for various roles in the dental field and includes registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as student dental assistants.
