Updated UNAM Courses and Requirements – 2024 -2025

University of Namibia (UNAM) Courses and Requirements for 2025: UNAM welcomes students with a range of school leaving certificates and qualifications from all over the world. Prospective students are advised to fulfill the minimum admission requirements for entry as well as English Language requirement (if relevant) as indicated. Competition for places in some programmes is extremely high, and the minimum requirement given may not be sufficient to secure an offer.

Application Dates

Applications for admission at UNAM open in May (Postgraduate and Mature Age Entry Scheme candidates) and in June (normal applications) of the year proceeding the year of study. Each student is requested to complete one application form. Mature Age Entry Scheme candidates are requested to only indicate one course of study choice. Postgraduate and other normal applicants are requested to indicate first and second choice (if applicable) of what you wish to study as well as the mode of study (Full-Time, Part-Time).

Application information

All applicants whose application forms are received by the University of Namibia will receive an acknowledgement letter from the Student Records Section. All successful applicants will receive a letter of provisional admission from their respective Faculties or the School of Postgraduate Studies. The Office of the Registrar will provide all provisional admitted students with correspondence that includes registration dates, information on registration and tuition fees, orientation programmes and a reminder to submit all original documents on the day of registration.

All provisionally admitted students are requested to register on the specified date as indicated per Faculty. Please note that you may forfeit your place or will be charged a late registration fee if you fail to register on the date allocated to you.

Note: International students should note that only School Leaving Certificates or confirmation from the relevant Examination Authority stating that certificates will be issued during the first year of study, will be accepted.

General Information

Other school-leaving qualifications may be accepted on their own merit as alternatives, and will be evaluated according to Regulation 7.3.1 (1)/(2) [GENERAL REGULATIONS PROSPECTUS 2014].

Places will be awarded on the basis of merit. Therefore the possession of a Certificate with the minimum score does not necessarily guarantee admission. Entrance is based upon places available within the faculties.

Faculty admission requirements are prescribed by each faculty. Prospective students must acquaint themselves with the faculty admission requirements as stipulated by the respective Faculty Special Regulations. Such requirements may include an admission test.

The University of Namibia reserves the right to interview candidates before admission.
